Austra is exiting the solar-power plant building industry. It has plans to build photovoltaic solar farms, but it is selling these plans to other companies. The Carrizo Energy Solar Farm, one of the three large photovoltaic solar plants, which was to be deployed on California's Pacific Coast, was the one sold to First Solar.
This plan counts for almost 1 GW of electricity for PGE. First Solar does not plan to continue the Carrizo project. The hope: it speeds up the process of two other photovoltaic plants. By purchasing the Carrizo Project, First Solar is assuming control of land that could be used in future projects.
One of First Solar's deals will allow it to invest in its own 550 MW solar farm, Topaz, that will deploy thousands of acres of photovoltaic solar panels. The other solar plan, a 250 MW farm being installed by SunPower.
