PV System Monitoring: Get the Most Bang for Your Buck

Monday, October 25th, 2010

PV monitoring is a smart and easy way to make sure you house is running as efficiently as it can, saving you money on your electricity bill.

A PV monitoring system—such as the Smart Electrical Panel—essentially involves capturing and analyzing power consumption in a home. Once the homeowner obtains the data for what devices are consuming the most power and at what time of the day they are spending the most money on electricity, they can reconfigure their power consumption and save money on power, month after month.

PV monitoring systems on average cost the same as typical load panels, but provide untold benefits in savings on a homeowner’s electric bill.

Solar Panels Completely Charge Electric Car

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

Solar panels are not just being used to power homes and businesses anymore. A new device now allows solar panels to completely charge an electric car in six hours.

Solar panels located on top of a small roofing structure—also able to provide shade for the car—can fully recharge an electric car in six hours of continuous sun exposure.

Solar energy eliminates the need for owners to plug in their electric cars into expensive carbon-generating grids. It also eliminates the concern of offsetting energy production away from gasoline to another form of carbon to produce power.
